Medical Cannabis Telemedicine Services in Rochester, MN

The use of medical marijuana is governed more by Minnesota state laws rather than local city laws – this is true for Rochester as well. To qualify for a Rochester medical marijuana certificate, you must have a state-listed illness for which medical cannabis is approved.

According to state laws, you will receive a Rochester medical cannabis certification if you have:

  • Cancer with severe pain, cancer-related chronic pain, extreme vomiting, cachexia, nausea, or severe wasting
  • Tourette syndrome
  • Autism, if the DSM-V criteria for autism are met
  • Glaucoma
  • Intractable pain
  • Obstructive sleep apnea
  • PTSD
  • Terminal illness if the patient has a life expectancy of less than one year and the illness results in severe and chronic pain, nausea or severe vomiting, or cachexia or severe wasting
  • Inflammatory bowel disease
  • Seizures
  • Extreme and frequent muscle spasms
  • ALS
  • HIV/AIDS
  • Alzheimer’s Disease
  • Chronic pain (effective Aug. 2020)
  • Age-related macular degeneration (effective Aug. 2020)
  • Sickle cell disease

A licensed doctor in Rochester must certify that you have one of these conditions before you apply for a Rochester medical marijuana card. IndicaMD is offering medical cannabis telemedicine services in Rochester, MN – where we connect you to licensed marijuana doctors in Rochester. Our team will also help you register with the OMC after you receive certification for your condition to eliminate any barriers to your access to medical cannabis in Rochester.

Our website is designed to simplify the process for a Rochester medical marijuana certification. All you have to do is sign up at our online medical cannabis telemedicine portal, and a specialist will get in touch with you for your certification. We will email you the certificate, and you can use this to sign up with the OMC and receive approval for the use of medical marijuana.

If you wish, our teams will also direct you to trusted medical marijuana dispensaries that work in full compliance with Minnesota state laws governing medical marijuana use. Additionally, we offer assistance with the registration process with the OMC.

Currently, we are only offering virtual visits and telemedicine services to our existing patients in Minnesota. You can connect with our experienced physicians through our secure HIPPA-approved portal and request the renewal of your marijuana certification via live video chat.

We do not offer online renewal of marijuana certification for new patients. To get recertified, please set up a physical in-person appointment with our physician to be evaluated for the Minnesota Cannabis Program.

On May 30, Gov. Tim Walz signed the bill that legalizes adult-use cannabis in Minnesota (for more details, visit the Minnesota Office of Cannabis Management). The legislation includes good news for Minnesota Medical Cannabis Program patients:
  • Effective July 1, 2023, the annual enrollment fee will be eliminated.
  • Effective Aug. 1, 2023, a patient’s initial certification visit with a health care practitioner can be conducted via telemedicine.
  • Effective March 1, 2025, patients will be required to get recertified for their qualifying medical condition every three years, instead of every year.
  • Effective March 1, 2025, the age for registered caregivers to purchase cannabis flower will be 18, rather than 21.

While the tax on adult-use cannabis product sales will be 10% (in addition to state and local sales taxes), medical cannabis products will continue to be tax-free.

The Medical Cannabis Program will establish an alternative certification procedure for veterans who receive care from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to confirm that the veteran has been diagnosed with a qualifying medical condition. The new application procedure will be effective Jan. 1, 2024. We will share more about this procedure at a later date.
